Chesterfield County’s first splash pad and a new playground at Beulah Park (6901 Hopkins Road) opened to the public during the National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 5th at the James M. Holland Recreation Complex at Beulah.

The $3.1 million playground and splashpad completes the final phase of development at Beulah Park which also includes a large rectangular field with a regulation sized cricket pitch and a half-mile walking path.

The park was previewed and tested by 225 campers in Parks and Recreation’s Fun in the Sun summer camp.

Playground and New Amenities

The splashpad is a 3,550 square foot fenced-in area with shaded seating. The 9,450 square foot playground has a combination of mulch and poured-in-place rubberized surfacing with climbing structures and slides, musical equipment, spinners and includes accessible swings and a carousel. New restrooms, water fountains and a covered picnic area are located nearby.

Splashpad hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m., seven days a week through the season and it is free to enjoy. The park is open dawn to dusk.

More Fun to Come

In addition to Chesterfield County’s first splash pad at Beulah, construction is underway on the Park at River City Sportsplex to open in summer 2026. It will include a larger splash pad and playground (themed to the James River ecosystem), trails, and spaces customized for a wide range of children’s ages and abilities.

For more information, visit the Beulah Park page on the Parks and Recreation website.
