Broadway in Richmond 2024-25 Series Includes “MJ,” “Moulin Rouge,” “A Beautiful Noise,” and Other Crowd Favorites

It’s official – the 2024-2025 Broadway in Richmond six-show subscription series, with an add-on option, has just been announced, and it’s a great lineup. The season, with all shows at Altria Theater, will include five Richmond-area premieres, three of which are in their first year of touring, as well as the return of a popular rom-com, pop musical.

New Broadway in Richmond Season Includes Something for Everyone

Kicking off the season, Oct. 29 through Nov. 3, is the corn-fed, corn-bred comedy musical Shucked, making one of the first stops fresh off its Broadway run.

Next up, on Dec. 10 through Dec. 15, get ready to party with Mamma Mia!, the musical tale of a mother, a daughter, and three possible dads and a memorable trip down the aisle. Set on a Greek island paradise, the story is told through the hits of ABBA.

MJ – yes we’re talking the artistry of Michael Jackson – takes the stage Jan. 28 through Feb. 2. The multi–Tony Award-winning new musical centered around the making of the 1992 Dangerous World Tour, was created by Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage. MJ offers a rare look at the creative mind and collaborative spirit that catapulted Michael Jackson into legendary status.

On March 4 through March 16, Moulin Rouge! The Musical takes center stage. Winner of ten Tony Awards – including Best Musical, the show brings with the glitz, grandeur, and glory of the revolutionary film onto the stage, remixed in a new musical mash-up extravaganza.

Created in collaboration with Neil Diamond himself, A Beautiful Noise, runs from April 15 to April 20. The musical is the uplifting true story of how a kid from Brooklyn became an American rock icon. It is an inspiring, exhilarating, energy-filled musical memoir set to the songs that defined his career.

Some Like It Hot rolls in Richmond, June 3 through June 8. The winner of four Tony Awards and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, the show is the story of two musicians who have to flee Chicago and in doing so, have the trip of lifetime.

The season’s add-on show is Broadway’s longest-running musical Chicago The Musical, coming May 9 to May 11. In the whirlwind of Chicago’s Jazz Age, two of the Cook County Jail’s most notorious murderesses – vaudeville star Velma Kelly and chorus girl Roxie Hart – become fierce rivals as they compete for headlines amidst a media frenzy.

Season ticket packages are on sale now. Current season ticket holders can renew online at BroadwayInRichmond.com/Renew2425. New season ticket holders can purchase season tickets at BroadwayInRichmond.com/New2425.

Editor’s Note: This is when you buy a two-ticket season subscription and plan on treating a different family member to each show – perfect example of giving experiences as a gift, versus more stuff.

Three Shows Hit Richmond on First Year of National Tours

“In the sixteen seasons we’ve been presenting Broadway shows in Richmond, we have never had three shows (Shucked, A Beautiful Noise, and Some Like It Hot) engaged within the first year of their national tour,” says Ashley Gibson, regional marketing director for Nederlander National Markets. “We’re thrilled to bring shows to RVA directly from Broadway – our patrons will be the among the first people across the country to see them! And the fact that we have these shows is a direct result of the incredible support we receive from our partners in the community, and the record-breaking growth in both ticket sales and subscribers we’ve seen in the past few seasons.”
