Head Coach of NOVA of Virginia Aquatics, David Schreck, announces Charlie Swanson is a member of the 2024 USA Olympic Team.

Charlie Swanson says, “I am obviously excited and it was nice to get it done early in the week. I’ve competed internationally in the 400 IM, 200 breast and 100 breast. I’ve always thought I would be good at sprinting and it turned out well! It was fun to have NOVA on my cap and represent where I came from and grew up.”

The Richmond Virginia native, a 2015-2017 USA National Junior Team and 2017-2024 USA National Team member, swam for NOVA of Virginia Aquatics under founding Head Coach Geoff Brown. After graduating from St. Christopher’s School in 2016, Charlie swam at the University of Michigan where he quickly made an impact. At Michigan, he was a 4 time All American, 5 time Big 10 Champion in the 400 IM (4 x 400 IM & 800 Free relay) and qualified for NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships all 4 years. International experience include medaling in the 2016 Junior Pan Pacific Championships (400 IM Silver Medalist), 2019 Pan American Games (400 IM Gold Medalist) and World Junior Championships (2015). Since graduating from Michigan, Charlie continues to represent NOVA in national competitions, while still training in Ann Arbor, MI.

“Charlie’s dedication, hard work, perseverance and never quit attitude shined through this week as we watched him leave it all in the pool. More than a great swimmer, Charlie is an amazing person. Words cannot express how excited and proud we are to have played a part in his path to the Olympics. The NOVA family looks forward to continuing to cheer for Charlie and all of his teammates in Paris,” says Schreck.

Swanson qualified in the 100 meter breaststroke for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games at the US Olympic Team Trials this week in Indianapolis, IN, setting a personal best time in the event with a time of 59.16.
