Richmond CASA Richmond CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) has been serving abused and neglected children in Richmond City for twenty-nine years. Advocates spend about ten to twelve hours a month on their case, ensuring that the child(ren) involved achieve the best possible outcome.
Richmond CASA will be hosting a fall training beginning in September for volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children who are presently before the court.
The training will take place Tuesday and Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. for four weeks. There’s also one Saturday session from 9 to 4 p.m. A swearing-in ceremony will follow at the Oliver Hill Courthouse. Training teaches volunteers how to write court reports, gather information from all parties on the case, and advocate for a child’s best interest.
Those interested in volunteering should submit an application by the end of August. Volunteers must be at least twenty-one years of age and have regular access to a car and computer.
