Spectrum

Experience a powerful original work created by the young artists of SPARC’s Spectrum program, a theatre arts education initiative for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies in grades 8–12. Developed through a series of rehearsals and workshops, this production showcases the ensemble’s own narratives, ideas, and creativity as they explore storytelling, performance, production, and playwriting. Spectrum is built on the belief that sharing personal stories can be transformative—not only for the performer, but for the entire community. In a supportive environment grounded in safety, respect, and collaboration, participants are encouraged to express their truths freely and authentically. As they shape their original play or musical, the ensemble works together to uplift diverse voices and craft a piece that reflects their lived experiences. With a focus on empowerment and social justice, Spectrum uses the performing arts as a platform to build confidence, foster belonging, and inspire change. This production invites audiences to witness the courage, creativity, and imagination of young people who are using theatre to celebrate identity, challenge assumptions, and envision a more inclusive world.
